Module description

This module focuses on the relationship between environmental and social performances and economic value. By adopting an ecological perspective, you will explore the relationship and interdependencies between policy, cultures, community resilience, ecosystems and infrastructure as factors which can both enable and thwart regenerative behaviour. You will analyse existing strategies used in third world economies to cope with biodiversity loss, the challenge of malnutrition and the emergency of climate change. More specifically, you will scrutinise the role of private, public and third sector actors by analysing the case of an NGO’s collaborative efforts to rehabilitate one of the most important deforested areas in Africa, and critically evaluate the impact.
