The module will cover the validation process of a business idea and also business generation from idea to MVP, through to scaling to an established business. This will include market research and planning principles, methods and techniques contributing to the full business plan. The delivery of the module will include academic and practitioner presentations.
Prerequisite module: ECM1101 or equivalent
You will engage in business ideation and learn how to validate and test them for market fit. In groups, you will then work through a process of business planning that will result in a business plan for a given business idea. This will include a basic understanding of all the components that make up the business model canvas, such as market/customers data and business planning.
This is a constituent module of one or more degree programmes which are accredited by a professional engineering institution under licence from the Engineering Council. The learning outcomes for this module have been mapped to the output standards required for an accredited programme, as listed in the current version

of the Engineering Council’s ‘Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes’ document (AHEP-V3).
