DESCRIPTION - summary of the module content

The module will cover the validation process of a business idea and also business generation from idea to MVP, through to scaling to an established business. This will include market research and planning principles, methods and techniques contributing to the full business plan. The delivery of the module will include academic and practitioner presentations.

Prerequisite module: ECM1101 or equivalent
 

 

AIMS - intentions of the module

You will engage in business ideation and learn how to validate and test them for market fit. In groups, you will then work through a process of business planning that will result in a business plan for a given business idea. This will include a basic understanding of all the components that make up the business model canvas, such as market/customers data and business planning.

This is a constituent module of one or more degree programmes which are accredited by a professional engineering institution under licence from the Engineering Council. RE-ASSESSMENT NOTES

If a module is normally assessed entirely by coursework, all referred/deferred assessments will normally be by assignment.

If a module is normally assessed by examination or examination plus coursework, referred and deferred assessment will normally be by examination. For referrals, only the examination will count, a mark of 40% being awarded if the examination is passed. For deferrals, candidates will be awarded the higher of the deferred examination mark or the deferred examination mark combined with the original coursework mark
