Module description
How is the discipline of Politics contributing to new ways of transforming the world? What impact can it have in responding to political, ideological, environmental, racial, technological or societal challenges of the twenty-first century? What are practical and ethical challenges that are faced when seeking to conduct research in difficult topics or places, and communicating with different audiences?
This team-taught module will spotlight staff expertise and diverse research methods, serving as a concurrent support for the dissertation module and employability. You will be introduced to some of the most pressing issues in Political Science and Political Theory, based on the cutting-edge research of academic staff. The content of the module will vary year to year, reflecting the expertise of the teaching team, but may involve experiential learning (e.g. simulations) and opportunities to interact with alumni and external speakers, gaining valuable insights into real-world applications of political theories.

- To investigate the practical and ethical challenges inherent in conducting research on complex political issues and communicating findings to diverse audiences.

Re-assessment notes
Deferral – if you miss an assessment for certificated reasons judged acceptable by the Mitigation Committee, you will normally be either deferred in the assessment or an extension may be granted. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of deferral will not be capped and will be treated as it would be if it were your first attempt at the assessment.
Referral – if you have failed the module overall (i.e. a final overall module mark of less than 40%) you will be required to submit a further assessment as necessary. If you are successful on referral, your overall module mark will be capped at 40%.
