Mentoring for the Graduate Scheme
There is a need for Senior Mentors across Professional Services to support the Future Leaders & Innovators Graduate Cohorts.
There are many benefits to becoming a Mentor for colleagues:
- Improve your understanding of issues and barriers experienced by staff
- Motivate and support someone to fulfil their potential
- Share valuable knowledge based on your own experience
Expectations
As part of your mentorship, you will discuss a variety of topics. Specific subjects will be determined based on what your Mentee is looking for, the types of subjects that will likely be covered are:
- Navigating a career in Higher Education
- Acting as a confidant: a personal and professional sounding board
- Sharing your networks and professional contacts
- Improving their knowledge and skills
- Supporting your Mentee to develop and maintain greater confidence and wellbeing
- Providing improved performance and productivity
- Helping them realise their full potential and progress their career
Requirements
Both cohorts will have a 'introduction' meeting with their Mentor, otherwise known as a 'chemistry' meeting.
If you are matched with a Graduate Scheme participant, you will be required to meet with them once per month for an hour from September 2025 to August 2026. The Cohort are in an early career stage and will benefit from more regular contact.
