Centre for Environmental Intelligence

About the Centre

Environmental intelligence is the use of AI and data science to solve problems around environment and sustainability.

The Centre for Environmental Intelligence takes an impact-focused approach, collaborating with strong partners to deliver excellent applied research solutions. We believe that working across disciplines is essential; the environmental challenges that we face in the 21st century do not sit neatly within disciplinary boundaries and demand a more holistic approach that is informed by social sciences as well as STEM subjects and technology. Therefore, we deliberately engage widely with people and researchers from different perspectives, seeking to co-create solutions with stakeholders to ensure they are fit for purpose.

At University of Exeter, we have established strengths in climate and sustainability research, so linking this to social science and our rapidly expanding capacity in AI and data science creates enormous potential.

“AI and data science offer powerful new tools at a time when nature and the planet are under enormous pressure – the Centre for Environmental Intelligence is all about creating novel solutions to help environment and society thrive in the coming century.”
